Subtitle of the Basel Sustainable Publishing Forum: „The Global Transition to Open Access: Challenges and Solutions“
The OA-EASI Team attended the forum and contributed with a short presentation entitled: OA-EASI landscape change: identifying needs for transformation to open access of the publishing landscape on a national level. We showed first results of the OA-EASI project and underlined that it is of importance to frame the OA transformation not only on a global level but to consider specific needs in the publishing and research landscape of universities of applied and educational sciences. These specific needs concern business models and technical solutions for Open Access on the publisher’s side and the need for practice-oriented journals with OA on the author’s side.
Although this forum was mainly attended by representatives of global publishing houses and global OA initiatives it was appreciated to see details about initiatives on a national level that focus on specifics of practice-oriented research and the publishing landscape respectively.
